About Us
Catherine Ewer MASC (Ad CS), (Al & D)
I have been interested in counselling for a long time. It still amazes me how easily people can change. Clients come with problems which seem unsurmountable, and just through talking, exploring and understanding their problems, concerns and experiences they can put their lives back into perspective and move forward. I still find this the most exciting part about counselling.
I had counselling when I was younger and realised the experience was both valuable and liberating. I can honestly say counselling helped me to move forward in my life.
I wanted to help others in the same way I had been helped, so I began my counselling study in 1997. I have been training for a number of years and will continue to update my qualifications as part of my commitment to HOPE for life, so I can provide clients with the best possible service.
I decided to train as a couple counsellor and have also specialised in alcohol and drug problems, and completed my diplomas in 2007 and 2008.
I have written two courses. Personality, Growth and Development. Yr1 and Yr2.
Yr 1 answers the question "Why we do the things we do", and it also covers personalities, their traits and how they were formed. This course is 20 sessions and runs each year from Sept - June. It is a popular course for those who want to understand themselves better, and for those who wish to develop themselves further in a caring, pastoral, or a professional setting in the community.
Yr 2 is 13 sessions and expands on the theories used in yr1. It is designed for people who want to develop counselling skills and is run every 3weeks.
Lyn and I became firm friends in 1995 and we have both worked in a voluntary capacity for over 15yrs in the local and in the surrounding areas. We decided to launch HOPE for life as a business in 2008.
Lyn Sargent MASC (Ad P. Th)
I was unaware I was gifted in counselling. I was advised by a friend to do a counselling course because she felt I was a natural listener. I had been considering my options as I wanted a new direction in my life so I took her advice and enrolled myself on a counselling course. The course enriched my life and I realised this was what I should be doing with my life, so I decided to take my studies further. I wanted to specialise so I have recently started a diploma course in Advanced Psychotherapy.
I want to help people who are troubled and support them whilst they explore and understand themselves. I enjoy seeing people change and consider it a privilege to be a part of that. I am lucky enough to experience job satisfaction which is why I am committed to updating my qualifications, so I can offer clients the best from HOPE for life.
